In the process, they reveal withered branches festooned only with old trailing vines. The trees have all been rendered with ink washes that accentuate the chilling cold. Gusts of wintry wind blow over the surface of the water, the ripples executed with long brushstrokes resembling interwoven hemp fibers that look like scales. Piled up into layers, they gradually fade into distance, suggesting a vast expanse. Though there is no seal or signature of the artist on the painting, the use of brush and ink closely resembles the style of the Yuan dynasty artist Sheng Mao (14th c.).(20121016) 内容简介（英文）： The painting depicts a river bank with winter trees heavily festooned with trailing vines. The ripples over the surface of the broad river, executed with the brushstrokes of interwoven threads of long hemp, gradually fade into distance, suggesting a vast expanse. In applying light color to the painting the artist added ink to the blue and ochre pigment. The spirit of a brooding winter pervades the painting. Though there are no seals or signature on the painting, the use of brush and ink is close to the style of the Yüan dynasty artist Sheng Mou.
