He excelled at the art and theory of painting, and was known as one of the Six Masters of the Early Ch’ing.This painting of an autumn landscape employs the style of Huang Kung-wang (1269-1354) to texture the mountains and depict the trees. Applying light blue, light red, and scarlet red, Wang has created a scene of brilliant autumn colors. This painting was done at the age of 60, thus figuring as a delicate work of Wang’s later years.
