收藏着录: 石渠宝笈续编(干清宫),第二册,页702 收藏着录: 故宫书画录(卷八),第四册,页103 收藏着录: 故宫书画图录,第十一册,页277-278 内容简介(中文): 邹一桂,字原褒,别号小山,又号让卿,晚年号二知老人,江苏无锡人,生在康熙二十五(公元一六八六)年,死在乾隆三十七(公元一七七二)年。中雍正五年进士,官高做到礼部侍郎,加尚书衔。 他的画以花卉为专长,画法原出恽寿平,但因都是应皇帝旨意而画,循规蹈矩不敢肆意放手,所以,作品多是用笔工整,用墨洁净,着色秾艳,反失去一种平实眞率、自然生动的韵致。有时随兴戯笔的,却有不少佳作。 内容简介(英文): Tsou I-kuei (tzu Yüan-pao, hao Hsiao-shan, Jang-ch’ing, and in his later years Erh-chih-lao-jen) was a native of Wu-hsi in Kiangsu. He received the chin-shih degree in 1727 and pursued on official career which culminated in his appointment as Vice-President of the Board of Rites and member of the Imperial Secretariat. He began to paint flowers and plants in the style of Yün Shou-p’ing, but because the ideas for his paintings were dictated by the Ch’ien-lung Emperor and experimentation was discouraged, most of his works are characterized by artisan-like brushwork, unmodulated ink, and thick, sensuous colors which lack natural vitality and rhythm. He occasionally did informal dotted-ink sketches which display much more freedom and spontaneity.
