虞山人胜伯。陈山人唯寅。皆为乡里。解后共饮。问及仙游事。欲所赋诗。未果写。既去。仆已醉矣。酒醒遂和以答二贤初意。此凡四也。十八日介录。扫除狡狯蓄神机。开顶葫芦不置扉。人物已从垣外见。真形渐向市中微。杯浅白鸽冲霄去。剑化双龙破浪归。自此更无毫发累。绿毛绕体欲成衣。独坐（点去）据胡床醉不移。坐深簷露滴髭眉。萧萧风水成音乐。澹澹星河起鹭鸶。语罢欲乘黄鹤去。兴来忽使日云驰。火龙傲烹茶。不析扶桑一气炊。羃羃松阴布网罗。鹤巢松顶吸天河。是何道士围棋坐。着箇樵夫对酒歌。看月也知为尔好。凭风无奈欲归何。送君直过桥西去。还记垂杨叶不多。

An Academician, he served as Jiang-Zhe Surveillance Commissioner and Secretariat of Huainan. Good at poetry and excelling at calligraphy, Rao looked back to the styles of Wang Xianzhi and Huaisu. In calligraphy history, his graceful cursive script is compared to Huaisu’s with round and powerful flow that harks to Wang Xianzhi. In this, the 14th leaf from “Yuan Calligraphy,” are many variations to the undulated brushwork. Into Wang Xianzhi’s running script style has been added the brush manner of Huaisu. The entire work waves with ease and pulsates with fluidity, the draft cursive added here and there giving it an archaic taste.(20110710)
