In terms of coloring, there are many layers of filled washes, much in the manner of “Camellia After Snow.” The white pigment of the blossoms was applied in washes, like the style found in the anonymous Song dynasty “Peach Blossoms” now associated with Ma Yuan or Ma Lin. Since Lin Chun was active before Ma Lin, this work could be a refined painting typical of the Southern Song done slightly after Ma Lin.(20101015)
