The main peak was done with just a single well-executed outline, after which some texture strokes were added to express the layering of the mountain form, giving it a serene and spirited feeling. According to the inscription, this work was done for a person named “Shouzhi” in 1351. The inscription and seals by Huang Gongwang here are similar to those on “Great Summits of Fuchun” in the Nanjing Museum collection, making it representative of Huang Gongwang’s type of work with “extremely few texture strokes” and “an abbreviated and remote brush manner.”(20110609)
