Two formidable pines rise up from the foreground with their branches looking like crab claws, which is typical of the Li Ch’eng and Kuo Hsi tradition. In the lower left, two figures above are about to make their way across the bridge to the buildings on the right. Light and dark ink seem to fuse together to suggest trees and mountains enveloped in mist and clouds. The details of the distant mountains on the right, in particular, seem to disappear within the layers of light and dark ink washes and dots.
