内容简介(英文): Tai Chin (style name Wen-chin, sobriquets Ching-an and Yu-ch'uan shan-jen) was a native of Hangchow, Chekiang. He excelled at landscape painting, following in the brush manner of the Southern Sung (1127-1279) masters Ma Yüan and Hsia Kuei. He also depicted figures, birds-and-flowers, and animals. The eight tables in this painting are arranged in groups of two, two, and four. On the left and right side of each are double stretchers. Placed on the tables are lamps, incense burners, and wine vessels. Next to the table are round stools with drum-shaped legs and horse-hoof feet. The stage in front is constructed like a building and in front of it is a set of miniature furniture. The subject matter is similar to that of “Children Playing” in the National Palace Museum by an anonymous Sung (960-1279) artist. The drapery of the figures is done in so-called “nail-head” and “rat-tail” brushstrokes. The description of the interior decoration and construction is quite detailed, without the aid of ruled-line techniques. 内容简介(英文): Tai Chin was a native of Ch'ien-t'ang, Chekiang province. He entered the service of the court as a painter, but not finding great favor he returned south. Tai was a committed artist. He patterned his painting after the Ma-Hsia style of the Southern Sung dynasty and helped to establish one of the fundamental styles of the Ming. These album leaves depict scenes from rural life, though they bear the signature of Tai Chin, they were apparently done by one of his followers.
