Late 17th c.)Ch’ing Dynasty West Lake by Hangchow has hills on three sides and is renowned for its beautiful scenery. The term “Ten Views of West Lake” originates in the Southern Sung (1127-1279), when the capital was Hangchow. The views include “Spring dawn at Su Dike”, “Lotus in wind at Ch’ü Courtyard”, “Autumn moon and peaceful lake”, “Snow at Broken Bridge”, “Listening to orioles among willows”, “Viewing Fish at Huakang”, “Sunset at Lei Peak”, “Twin Peaks pierced by clouds”, “Evening bell at Southern Ridge”, and “Moon reflection at Three Pools”. They have not only inspired countless poets to compose verse, but also many painters to render them in elegant works. This album painted by Lan Shen was compiled along with the verse of Yen Sheng-sun and others.
