十四弟如面。此次东行。我心甚喜。亟望博一出路。借资升斗用亲年。男子生而志在四方。我岂不知。而故作皃女子态耶。特迩来心境偶有所触。顿形伤感。自亦不知其所以然。晋人常有中年多感之语。况如我之老病侵寻。衰而益甚者乎。刻拟再图一晤。又恐忍俊不禁。或作失声之笑。转抱难安之隐。起而复止者屡矣。兹偶成五律二章。望弟付之行箧。时一展阅。于应事接物之际。未必不无小补。日昨面谈。一切仍望谨记勿忽。嗟嗟。来日苦短。去日已奢。眷言孔怀。此生已矣。留此以作代面可也。去腊甫相见。今朝又别离。自伤衰已甚。重晤在何时。宾主成僚属。文明互取资。美哉基非。须念倚闾思。前朝延谓室。强丰是儒林。交接驰卑抗。词华通古今。有才忌芒角。遇事见胸襟。持赠无多语。如砭对症针。丁未（西元一九０七年）七月十二日。兄苾园病中作一册。我视老太太精神身体先天既属富厚有馀。后天亦无些微损伤。定卜期颐无疑。此次远游尽可放心前去。不必以家事为念。天若假我数年。三年之期亦非甚远。我等或可晤面。但差竣后若捐未停。改一外职。亦无不可。否则偕钦使回京后。或请其调改六部当差。能洊升五六品京堂。亦未非策之善也。此时外官。殊不易做。十二三哥听鼓十馀年。陪多少小心。受多少闷气。至今不能得一实缺。有何意味。届时外用内用其审慎之。天热路长。凡百自重。兄又及。

内容简介（中文）： 李端棻（一八三三〜一九○七年），字苾园，贵州贵筑人。同治二年（一八六三）进士，历云南学政、刑部侍郎、礼部尚书等职。光绪年间，李疏请立各省府、州、县遍设学堂，并建藏书楼、仪器院、译书局，广立报馆，选派留学生，获光绪帝批准；又举荐康有为、梁启超，支持变法。戊戌变法后被充军新疆，后赦归，主讲贵州经世学堂。此札写给十四弟，署丁未年（一九○七）病中作，时已七十八岁。谭旦冏先生捐赠于民国八十二年。(20120106) 内容简介（英文）： Li Duanfen (style name Bifen) was a native of Guizhu in Guizhou. A Presented Scholar (jinshi) of 1863, he went on to serve as Yunnan Education Commissioner, Vice Minister of Justice, and Minister of Rites. During the Guangxu reign (1874-1908), Li petitioned the government to establish schools at the province, prefecture, and county levels. He also advocated setting up a library, academy of instruments, and bureau of translation. Establishing newspaper offices, he nominated those who had studied overseas and won the approval of the Guangxu Emperor. He also recommended Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao while supporting political reform. After the failure of the Hundred Days’ Reform, he was banished to Xinjiang. Later pardoned, he returned and lectured at the Jingshixue School in Guizhou.This letter, written by Li to his fourteenth brother while ill, is dated to 1907, the year he died.Mr. T’an Tan-chiung donated this work to the National Palace Museum in 1993.(20120106)
